Welcome 2008!
by brian on Wed Jan 02, 2008 11:50 am

Happy New Year everyone.

Team GravyBoy usually starts out New Year's Eve with this:

And ends it with this:

I understand that somewhere up north a bunch of people stand around watching a ball of lights fall down.

How quaint.

Some people go to the gym 5 times a week, some people go to Jedi Bootcamp!

I remember doing this card.

It was one of the ones I had most fun doing, and I'm glad to see that someone thought enough of it to bid for it.
Online TV for free

tv-links.co.uk is dead, but there are some alternatives popping up out there.

Some of them legal.

You can get your TV fix, for example at Veoh.com.

which seems to be pulling a lot from http://Hulu.com (though it's only in Beta right now)

Go watch some geek shows

Ask Nein - Winter Weather
by brian on Fri Jan 18, 2008 8:26 am

Dear Nein Nunb,

We've had a little winter precipitation this week. What tips can you give us for handling the dangerous road conditions?

A good skull cap does wonders. I also recommend bright clothing (red or orange is best). But don't feel that this has to cramp your style. A nice dark colored vest goes a long way in saying: "Safety first, but coolness, also first."

I hope this helps!

You have 12 hours....

After a completely botched forecast from our local weatherfolk, we have been forced to take drastic measures to procure some snow.

So, winter...if you want frosty back alive...you'll make with the snow...and fast.

Okay, Frosty can go free now...

My threats seem to have worked...even if it was only 2 inches...and none on the street.

Ask a secondary character - Admiral Ackbar
by brian on Mon Jan 21, 2008 12:03 pm

Dear Admiral Ackbar,

With Christmas behind us, what advice can you give for getting through the long monotonous winter?

You might think that after living through a situation like this year after year, one might be able to plan for such a scenario with a bit of success.

But you'd be wrong! No matter how much you plan there's more to avoid than you thought. That's when the caviar hits the fan and it's all "Evasive maneuvers" and you just have to accept that you can't repel firepower of that magnitude.

What I'm trying to say is that no matter what, you might as well plan on losing a tranport or two, possibly a frigate. So buy in bulk.

Good luck.

FX this weekend.
by brian on Wed Jan 23, 2008 6:43 pm

Tomorrow morning we head out for the FX show in Orlando. We'll also be at Megacon the first weekend in March. Seems weird to be going down to two shows in the same town that are held in the same convention center.

I'm sure I'll get them confused in my memory when I look back afterwards.

But it looks like it's going to be around 70 degrees and sunny this weekend. So that'll be fun. (even though I'll be inside all day.)
